Love. Honor. Protect.
As an Environmental Studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble—a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct. What Allie doesn’t know is that her world’s decline is a result of an ancient battle called the Night War—the Norse goddess Nott’s crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn’t know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.
When four gorgeous guys show up claiming to be Allie’s Asgardian protectors, she thinks they’re delusional. And when they order her to hunt down the pieces of an immortal weapon, she’s convinced they’re insane. But when Allie’s attacked, the guys’ crazy stories of demigods and dark elves begin coming together. And Allie’s not sure what scares her more—losing her life to the Goddess of Night . . . or losing her heart to one of her protectors.
Let the hunt begin.

I waited to write my review until I finished the series, meaning Allie and Tore's story. I have no idea if there will be a spin off on any of the other supporting characters. That being said, I found the entire series to be an overall enjoyable read. The premise is one that we all can related to, Allie finds that there is more to her than just being your typically college freshman and her life is about to change irrevocably. The reader should definitely keep in mind that the genre the series falls into is that of: Teens, Children's Books, Fairy Tales and Folk Tales of Norse Mythology. This is a very YA read, so I become frustrated when I see negative reviews that state the main character is immature. Duh... she's eighteen and just beginning to understand who she is and where she comes from. So give a girl a break. Not wanting to give away too much, but Allie does come into her own and is surrounded by her protectors and allies she meets along the way who help her fumble through the monumental task that has been laid squarely on her shoulders by the Norns, who are like oracles that can foretell one's destiny. So to break it down, here are my likes: I found Allie to be snarky and I enjoyed a lot of the banter among her and her protectors, the story telling was very well written, and once invested in the series there were times that I genuinely felt bad and became teary eyed during certain scenes as they played out.
Overall, for me, the read was a bit predictable and long before the end of the series I had already figured out how most things were going to play out. That being said there was one plot twist that I did not see coming that I applaud, and that definitely had me wanting more. Obviously, this this in no way hindered me from finishing the series with a very satisfying ending. Protector Night War Saga Book 1 eBook Leia Stone ST Bende Reviews
What's not to enjoy with hunky guys and a plucky heroine undertaking mythical battles to save the Earth? This series starter is a winning combination of Norse protectors helping environmental student Allie battle against a lethal array of evil collaborators trying to decimate her planet. Like Allie, we can use all the heavenly help we can get to save our imperilled planet, so that starts me at a solid 4½☆. Pile on top of that planet-saving mission some better-than-usual romance chemistry, a realm-hopping porting rainbow, and a frantic quest to revive other-worldly healer mom from malevolent Nott's dastardly sleeping curse, and you've got a CliFi paranormal YA classic worth 5☆.
I absolutely loved this book. Once I finished reading it, I waited a couple hours to process everything and started rereading it all over again! It has been a very long time since I loved a book enough to reread it immediately. I cannot get enough. I love how these two amazing authors were able to create such strong characters. I loved every single one of them. As a reader you are transported into this world that they created. You feel like you are inside the book, living through it with the characters. I seriously cannot wait for Defender to come out. Literally jumping up and down, biting my nails off and trying to claw my way through the calendar until the next one! Amazing job ladies!
Great combination of writing styles. I have read each of the books from both authors and this series will not disappoint. It starts off relatively calm and then delves quickly into a much faster pace. Norse mythology and a brewing romance. It is one that created the whole 'book withdrawal' problem. Good read.
This first book of the series didn't thoroughly grab me, sorry to say. The writing was OK, but the First Person rendition limited the dialog and action to her perspective. And her perspective was the perspective of the standard YA Heroine--stubborn, selfish, self-centered....you get the idea. The good news is that her personality improves by the latter part of the book.
The action scenes were good, and the ongoing plotline appears to have potential. I like her harem of Protectors. Since the next book is available at a currently reasonable price, I've purchased it to see how the story develops.
Leia Stone and S.T. Bende writing together?!?!?! I jumped up and down when I saw that and then sat impatiently waiting for Protector and it went up and beyond what I expected. You can see the influences each author brings in to Protecter and it harmonises each other perfectly. Protector is my must have on my shelf and the cover is stunning so my self will be happy. Everything about Protector is amazing and I can say nothing wrong about it. Just that I need more Mack Pack! .... Please?
Allie is kick ass awesome and I loved her from the start. Especially when she meets a certain someone on her run. My family probably thinks I'm crazy for laughing at that at 3 in the morning but who cares, it was hilariously awesome. Every chapter had me on the edge of my seat - okay I was laying down so biting my nails? Eh - and I needed to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend you give Protector a go even if you haven't read wither author before or even if you have. Protector is a must have!
'When I looked up, an unnerving sight met my still spinning gaze.
"I'm delirious. There are five Macks." I rubbed my eyes, but the number of lumberjacks did not diminish. Scattered around the forest that looked like it had been lifted out of a nature magazine were five variations of my barded protector. Each stood with his combat boots firmly planted in the sea of multicolored flowers.
They stared at me, weapons in hand. "How dizzy am I?" I asked."
