That was definitely the something different that I was looking for. Love this story and it took sexy to a whole new level!
You know with KD Grace to expect the unexpected and The Tutor definitely carries on in the same vein. From a gorgeous cover, which immediately attracted my attention, came a story like no other. Seeing that one of the characters in this book suffers from haphephobia, following a childhood trauma, I couldn't wait to experience just how the two main protagonists would work around this condition.
Kelly Blake is a writer and moonlights as a sex tutor. Having helped many people understand the complexities of sex and all that it entails, she finds herself drawn in to help sculptor, Alexander "Lex" Valentine, who finds himself unable to touch or be touched by anyone without being sick or passing out. At his PA's insistence, Lex agrees to meet with Kelly and although drawn to her, he struggles to see how she can help his condition, without making matters worse. Despite a hesitant start, Lex soon finds that there are other ways to be with Kelly without actually being with Kelly.
Their working relationship and tentative friendship initially struggles but a public grand gesture by Lex makes Kelly's future take a dramatic turn as she finds herself living with Lex in order to escape the paparazzi. With an unbreakable bond, the duo start to find ways of helping each other and to alleviate their mutual sexual tension. Lex starts to trust Kelly and in doing so finds himself able to get closer to her until he forces himself to make contact with her, albeit briefly, and before he's violently sick.
I really enjoyed the voyage of self-exploration that Lex and Kelly find themselves on. They have both suffered in their pasts but Lex more so as he tries to find the answers that his nightmares are trying to direct him towards.
As expected with KD Grace's books, the sexual encounters are not of the norm but no less expressive or fulfilling for readers. Despite not touching each other, the emotions and sexual encounters experienced were extremely erotic and beautiful and readers will definitely feel the power of sight over touch.
This is definitely a recommended read if you're looking for something a little different.

This was a very different take on an erotic romance. Imagine having a phobia of being touched by people. That is the plot of this very erotic book. Alexander ‘Lex’ Valentine is a very wealthy man as well as a famous artist, but he lives his life in the protection of his estate. A few trusted friends make up his world until he is talked into seeing a “Sex Tutor.” Kelly Blake is a romance author, but she is also a sex tutor. When she is contracted to help a mysterious business man the sexual pull causes her to act inappropriately. Something about Kelly makes Lex do the unthinkable and step outside his comfort zone, but things get out of hand and the private life he has been living is becoming headlines in the tabloids. To make matters worse he has exposed Kelly to the media circus, but maybe all is not lost. I really enjoyed this story. The banter between Kelly and Lex was fun and interesting. Well this was an interesting read. Not only is the story topic different, but the approach in resolving "the situation" is brilliant. I never would have thought that this would have worked, but it does...very well.
Lex is a very well known artist, but has a problem. He can't stand being touched or just plain touching, for that matter. After having a serious breakdown during one of his sculpting sessions, his best friend and personal assistant recommends a different approach to "fixing" his issues. Kelly is an author who moonlights as a sex tutor (secretly, very secretly). So when she's asked to help Lex, someone who wants to be discreet about things, she's open to help. But things get heavy....and fast.
Between helping each other, find themselves, exposing secrets and of course, some seriously steamy steamy situations, I fell hard for these characters. It's really hard not to. Each one has their own secrets and darkness, but they learn from each other and feed off that. As much as this book is steamy and sexual, it's just as emotionally driven. Yes, I shed a few tears, but they were happy ones.

As always, K. D. Grace has unexpected turnovers and creative situations. What I really like it is the way she made me feel good, even laughing (and this rhe most unexpected thing of all).
This was a wonderful book, well-written and with great characters. The empathy between characters was moving.
Plus, a few places made me laugh out loud, which I love. Tic Tacs and canned fruit will never be the same for me. I really enjoyed this book, and will read more by this author.
